Most pools need fresh water every few years. The clearest sign is chemistry that won’t respond: chlorine that vanishes, cloudiness that returns, scale that keeps forming. High stabilizer is the usual culprit — it builds with every chlorine tab and eventually locks up the sanitizer. Draining is also the first step for heavy stain work and some repairs.
